I Have Questions

Ruby Waldo

FOREST-BODY-CHAIR is a project of RAY (the collaborative team of Gina Siepel and Sara Smith), using wooden chairs as an occasion to explore entwined ecological, embodied, and social questions connected to their construction and use. A three-week workshop version of FOREST-BODY-CHAIR at Mildred’s Lane in July 2021 brought together participant-fellows and guest artists for conversation and experimentation across somatic, greenwood construction, and fieldwork practices. Meditation Ocean was introduced into the session, allowing for additional associations to be made between forests and oceans, as well as contemplation of breath as an environmental process and metaphor. Participants were invited to develop meditation scripts collaboratively or on their own.

Being. Being with no objective other than innate purpose ~Not subscribed from any outside source.

Allow the body to be soft like a sea sponge deep on the ocean floor trust that you are right where you need to be

Soften the chatter of thoughts

Inhale through the nose

exhale through the nose

jump in deeper

Just as the moon pulls the ocean tides

so do the lungs with the breath

I am inhaling

I am exhaling

Notice the Molecules of emotion mixing and brewing at the surface

You are a multiverse

an ocean of experience

layers of organic material, dancing within the waves in co-creation

Release the tension within the central nervous system by softening your gaze

I am inhaling through the nose

I am exhaling through the nose

Allow the breath to echo the sound of the ocean

flowing in the infinite: the here and now

Inhale as much oxygen as you possibly can (hold)

Exhale release out the mouth (ahhh)

How do we see with our wholeness

How the heart creates rhythm,

how the skin breaths without force

how the Atlas vertebrae connects to the skull

Be here now no where now here

allow your self to explore what is here create ease in the spine within each vertebrae

float, absorb new data here in the now

Observe what is here in the depth of profound wonder

I am a multiverse

You are a multiverse

We are inhaling and we are exhaling

We are a multiverse
